One of the challenges of 3D printing, is finding a specific color of a filament, but only having a photo or a raw spool. So, we are left staring at a page showing 42 different shades of the same color, until you finally pick one. Then, when they show up at your door, it’s not even close to what you saw on the monitor. Then, you print it out and it’s even further off. FilamentColors.xyz is a great tool, but each monitor is different, and the colors still don’t look the same as what you chose. So, unless you are “made of money”, you tend to settle for what you ordered. I am tired of spending money on filament that just isn’t right for the project.
In comes The Print Codex! Fully funded on Kickstarter, they are now available to the public on their website. The Print Codex is just a beautiful box of filament samples. Right now, you can choose from a couple different filament vendors: PolyTerra, Prusament, and Bambu Labs. Since I purchased this on Kickstarter I was sent the Kickstarter exclusive box: A double width box full of beautiful sample swatches. These 3 brands happen brands I happen to use a lot, so this makes it way easier to see exactly how the color will print vs guessing.
I would definitely recommend this if you print with a ton of different colors/brands. Have a bunch of time and a free printer (or 3), you can print your own swatches. Download the files on their Printables.
