We are back again with some more amazing filament from ProtoPasta‘s bi-monthly subscription Endless Pastabilities. This month’s package includes some of my favorite colors to date.  This shipment included Candle Light White(CLW), Night Before Blue(NBB) and Holiday Pine(PIN).  CLW is a gorgeous, creamy white with gold glitter, NBB is a beautiful dark blue with silver glitter, and the star of the show is PIN. PIN is an annual tradition at ProtoPasta.   They grind up last year’s Christmas tree and then turn it into filament!  You can watch the process here! When printing with it, PIN will give off a slight pine smell. I haven’t found a good print to make with this filament yet, but when I do, I will be sure to post it.  Feel free to post a link if you have a good recommendation.  Drop the link in the comments below or on one of our social media platforms.

As with all new filaments that arrive from the lab, trying to find the perfect print to showcase whatever properties showcased within the filament. Luckily for us, ProtoPasta has teamed up with Corey from CM Design for each Endless Pastabilities shipment.  This month’s STL files are hands down my favorite that he has designed so far.  Once I saw the plaid thermos, I had to print my own featuring NBB, CLW and PrintBed Black. See below to see how amazing it turned out! When I showed the family my sweet new thermos, everyone asked why I bought a thermos.  Corey definitely did a great job designing this model. It appears ProtoPasta is beginning to move towards updating their spools to better accommodate the Bambu Labs AMS. On their blog they talked about updating the spools to feature a perforated center core that could be removed and then placed into a Bambu Labs spool with a printed adapter. With my spools of NBB and PIN there was a perforated core with a note that said “Removable for increased compatibility, Visit www.protopasta.com/spool”. 

Unfortunately the link did not work (at the time of posting). I did manage to find this blog post that talks about the changes they are making, but it says 1KG spools won’t be updated until Early 2024.  So either they are ahead of schedule or me receiving 2 spools with the new spool style was a mistake. I am hopeful that they will release an adapter to work with these new spools like they did for the 500g spools, so we don’t have to respool or rip the sides off anymore.

Overall, this is by FAR my favorite batch of Endless Pastabilities. I’m really looking forward to seeing if ProtoPasta can top this last shipment!
